Haitian Sensation

Welcome to Stranger Things Thursday where I go over something interesting that happened to me in the past week or in just my life.
This recent week I went to Haiti on a mission trip with the Hands and Feet Project (I will put a link to them below) to serve whatever they needed for the few short days I was there. Hands and Feet were created by the band Audio Adrenaline to create orphanages for the overwhelming amount of homeless children in Haiti. We arrived on Tuesday after about 17 hours of traveling that day to their base where people like me stay. We ate a late dinner then went straight to bed. On Wednesday, our project was to clean up trash from a local park. There was a church service going on right across the street, so we got to listening the people inside have a blast singing to Jesus as well as the people the couldn't fit inside the building singing around the park. We then went to one of the H&F orphanages and got to find out more on what the orphanages do (again, link below, go check them out it is amazing). Thursday rolled around and we went to the beach. It was hot outside, but the water was warm and the beach was beautiful. That night the new members of Audio Adrenaline gave us missionaries and a bunch of kids from a nearby orphanage and the kids from the H&F orphanages a concert with music from the original AA and also from their brand new album (which is awesome). It was so amazing to see all of us singing the same songs, whether in English or Creole, we were united as one. On Friday, we walked down the road to pick up trash to help clean the community. I filed two big trash bags in just two hours. We had Popsicle after to cool down. Later we went on a hike to some French forts from when the Haitians gained their independence from the French. It was amazing walking into history that I've only read about. That night was our last night, so AA gave us a worship night then a fierce Corn Hole competition (Team Squeaks for life). Then we left super early in the morning for the airport and the rest is history. It was such a cool experience and I would definitely do it again. Go check out the links to the Hands and Feet Project!!
